$230 AMD Zen 2 CPU to Outperform $500 Intel Core I9-9900k (Official Benchmarks)
AMD Zen 2 Latest Leaks and Benchmarks
AMD’s CEO Dr.Lisa Su recently held AMD’s keynote at CES 2019 in which we got some information about AMD’s next-gen 7nm CPUs, AMD Zen 2. Unfortunatly, we didn’t get official specs list or a specific release date. All we know is that AMD is going to release Zen 2 sometime in mid-2019. AMD has also released benchmark scores for their 8 cores, 16 threads 7nm CPU which show that it is able to beat the Core I9-9900k.
AMD Zen 2 Official Benchmarks
AMD has revealed Cinebench R15 scores for Zen 2. According to AMD’s official benchmark scores, the 8 core and 16 threads variant of the AMD 3rd-gen Ryzen was able to get a score of 2,057 on Cinebench $15. For comparison, the Intel Core I9-9900K scored 2,040 on Cinebench R15. We also know that the Zen 2 CPU used far less power than the Core I9-9900k. While the Intel Core I9-990k system used 180w of power, an identical system with Zen 2 used 130w-132w of power. Remember, AMD got this benchmark scores with clock speeds that aren’t finalized yet so expect to see higher scores when Zen 2 is released.
AMD Zen 2 Latest Leaks and Rumors
We have gotten spec lists and pricing for AMD Zen 2 CPUs from credible sources around the internet. As you can see in the list below, Zen 2 is going to start from $99 and go all the way up to $499. If the specs list below is true, Intel doesn’t stand much of a chance.

$230 Zen 2 to Outperform Core I9-9900k
As you can see in the spec list above, AMD is going to release two different Zen 2 CPU variants with 8 cores and 16 threads, the Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 5 3600X. Even if we assume that AMD did the benchmarks with the Ryzen 5 3600X, it would mean that a $229 Zen 2 CPU is going to be able to beat the $500 Intel competitor. If this is the case, Intel can’t really do much. If the $229 Zen 2 is able to do this, then we should be really excited for the high-end $500 Ryzen 9 3850X.
