7nm AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) Beaten By Intel in Gaming Benchmarks!
Zen 2 Certainly Delivers on the Hype
If you have been following the PC hardware news you may have heard about rumors that claimed AMD Zen 2 is going to blow away Intel’s competing CPUs in both gaming and productivity benchmarks. Well, the embargo for AMD Zen 2 has finally lifted and we have gotten our hands on benchmarks for AMD’s next-gen 7nm CPUs which show that AMD has definitely delivered on some of the hype. Although AMD Zen 2 beats Intel in single-threaded benchmarks, Intel still has the lead in gaming.
Does Intel Still Have the Lead?
Although AMD Zen 2 is able to beat Intel’s competing CPUs in productivity benchmarks by a long shot, Intel Coffe Lake still has the lead in gaming benchmarks. As you can see below, AMD Zen 2 beats Intel’s competing CPUs by a long shot in Cinebench R20. The AMD Ryzen 3700x scores about 58% better then the Intel Core i7-9700k and the 3900X performs about 56% better then the Core I9-9900k. Of course, these benchmark scores aren’t very surprising as AMD Ryzen always beats their competing CPUs in multi-core benchmarks.

The surprising part is the fact that AMD Zen 2 is actually able to outperform Intel’s competing CPUs in single-core CineBench R20 benchmark. AMD Zen 2 barely outperforms Intel in single-core benchmarks but, this is still surprising. The 3700X performs about 4% better then the 9700K and the 3900X performs about 7.5% better then the I9-9900k. Unfortunatly for AMD, if Intel releases upgraded CPUs they’ll defanatly loose the lead in single-core benchmarks.

Gaming Benchmarks
Although AMD is able to outperform Intel in productivity benchmarks, Intel still has the lead in gaming. As you can see below, in all but one of the benchmarks, Intel Coffe Lake is able to outperform the competing Zen 2 CPUs by a long shot.
