Capcom: no plan to bring Monster Hunter World to Nintendo Switch

Monster Hunter World is probably not coming to the Nintendo Switch

2017 was a very good year for the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch reached many achievements that most developers only dream about and it got many games from triple-A developers. The Nintendo Switch got L.A Noire from Rockstar, WWE 2K18, NBA 2K18, Skyrim, and more. The Nintendo Switch is going to get many new triple-A games in 2018 Payday 2, Dark Souls Remastered, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, and more. Monster Hunter developers have been worked with Nintendo many times but the latest Monster Hunter game Monster Hunter World will not be coming to the Switch and Capcom explained why that is happening.

In an interview with IGN Capcom said, “We don’t have any plans for the Switch at the moment. Part of the reason is that the title has been in development for almost 4 years. At the time we had to commit to our hardware choices, we decided on using the most powerful current generation consoles available at the time, which was Playstation 4 and Xbox One. So [the decision was made] before the Switch was even announced or on sale.

It’s also because for every title we decide what the best fit for hardware is for the concept. We don’t just look at everything. It’s more like “if we want to achieve this kind of game concept, where’s the best place to achieve that?” and for this title the Playstation 4 and Xbox One were the best fit for us.” It makes sense for Capcom to do this because the Nintendo Switch is a lot weaker than the Xbox One and PS 4 hardware wise. It took Bethesda a long time to optimize DOOM on the Nintendo Switch but after so much optimization it still doesn’t work very well. DOOM was released a long time ago and Monster Hunter World hasn’t been released yet so it probably will require more power to play it. You can preorder Monster Hunter World now for $59.99 and it will be released in only 3 days.
