PUBG getting region lock

PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds is going to get region lock

PUBG was the most successful game of 2017 at least in North America. PUBG reached record numbers of concurrent players that have never been seen before in Steam and it has been the most played game in Steam for months now. PUBG has a lot of audience in North America but that doesn’t mean people from other places don’t play PUBG. Chinese players are another big audience for PUBG even in North American servers it’s very easy to stumble upon an Asian player. PUBG’s website has announced PUBG Corp is going to introduce region lock to PUBG.

If you play PUBG in duos or squads you know that communication is very important but without region lock there is a language problem. A lot of times gamers from Asia join North American Duos or Squads servers and that is a big problem for people that don’t know how to speak their language. It is very frustrating to fall into a Duos match with someone that doesn’t understand English so you can’t communicate properly and get killed in the beginning. Region lock will also improve network delay because players from another region wouldn’t be able to join your match. With region, lock players will not be able to join servers that are not in their region for example if you are living in North America you wouldn’t be able to join a server in Asia. Region lock is going to be tested in limited environmental servers first. Right now we don’t know when it’s going to make it’s way to normal servers.

Recently PUBG Corp released a new patch for PUBG PC. Some of the improvements with update 7 are better input lag, reduced the FPS drops when the map is loading, and friend list added to PUBG (up to 50 people can be added).
