AMD Ryzen 7 Losing the Mid-Range/Gaming CPU Market to Intel Because of 9th Gen Intel CPU

Intel is going to recapture most of the mid-range CPU market

AMD and Intel have been competing for the mid-range CPU market since AMD released their Ryzen series CPUs. Intel quickly retaliated with their own 6 core CPUs but even though they keep releasing new CPUs its pretty even. Intel is going to break the evenness with their next-gen CPUs which are going to feature 8 cores and 16 threads with a boost clock of 5 GHz. For gaming, the 9th gen Intel CPUs are going to be very useful.

Mid-Range CPU Market, Next-Gen Intel CPU’s VS Ryzen 7

Now let’s talk about the most popular market the mid-range market or the gaming market. In this price range, most people that buy these CPUs are gamers as they aren’t too weak and not too powerful. Intel’s next-gen CPUs coming out on October 20th are going to use the Z390 Chipset. The Intel Core I9-9900K, I7-9700K, and the I5-9600K are all coming out sometime in October. The flagship model the Core I9-9900K is going to feature eight cores, 16 threads, 16 MB of L3 Cache, and the Intel UHD 620 IGPU. The CPU is going to have a base clock of  3.6 GHz, and a boost clock of 5.0 GHz and all of that power is on a 95W TDP. The I9-9900K will likely cost $350 to $400. This will be the sweet spot for most gamers.

Now let’s talk about AMD’s most powerful mid-range CPU the Ryzen 7 2700X. The Ryzen 7 2700X features 8 cores, 16 threads, 4.3 GHz Max Boost, and 20MB of Combined Cache. This will cost you $324.99. The I9-9900K when overclocked might be able to go up to 5.5 GHz and thanks to that it’s going to do a lot better on games then the Ryzen 7 2700X. For gamers, the I9-9900K is the best choice.
