Is AMD 7nm SONY’s Final Choice For PS5? Sony PlayStation 5 (PS 5) to Feature AMD Ryzen 3000 APUs?
The PS 5 is Rumored to Feature AMD Ryzen CPU

Unfortunatly, Sony hasn’t said anything about their next-generation of consoles other than that they need a new generation of consoles. Sony’s CEO said, ” At this point, what I can say is it’s necessary to have a next-generation hardware.” Kenichiro Yoshida CEO of Sony. Although Sony hasn’t said anything, there are a lot of rumors going around the internet about the PS 5’s specs and release date. AMD Ryzen 3000 APUs Latest Leaks and Rumors
Thanks to recent rumors, we have gotten some specs and benchmark scores on AMD’s next-gen Ryzen 3000 APUs. It seems like Ryzen 3000u CPU series are going to feature the same core count and the same amount of threads as last-gen APUs. The AMD Ryzen 3 3200u and 3300u are rumored to feature a base clock of 2.1 GHz while the Ryzen 7 3500U and 3700U are going to feature a base clock of 2.6 and 2.2 GHz. All four APUs are rumored to feature 4mb of L3 cache. We know that AMD Ryzen 3000u series CPUs aren’t going to move on to the Zen 2 architecture as they are codenamed Raven Ridge on Geekbench. This may be a bit disappointing to those of whom waiting for Ryzen 3000U as it isn’t going to be moving onto the 7nm Zen 2 architecture.
Is the PS 5 Going to Feature AMD Ryzen 3000U?
Thanks to a recent leak, we know that someone at PlayStation is working with Ryzen technology.
“A principal programmer at Sony associated with the firm’s Advanced Technology Group is working with AMD’s Ryzen technology, improving the Zen core’s micro-architecture support within the LLVM compiler stack – a key component of a tool used in the PlayStation 4 development environment. Of course, there is no PS4 product using the Ryzen processor, leading to speculation that this is related to a prospective next-gen PlayStation 5 console currently in development.
The evidence – unearthed by Linux-specialist site Phoronix – shows the highly experienced Sony programmer making a number of commits to the LLVM github over the last few weeks, all of them related to the “znver1″ architecture, the codename for AMD’s first generation Ryzen processors. On top of that, information on LinkedIn confirms the staffer’s involvement in compiler development for PlayStation hardware. Game credits in Media Molecule’s Tearaway and Evolution Studios’ DriveClub confirm that the developer is also a part of Sony’s Advanced Technology Group, which serves a number of roles in the Sony organisation.”
Yes, the PS 5 is most likely going to feature AMD Ryzen but, will it feature Ryzen 3000U? It’s not easy to answer this question. The PS 5 is most likely not going to feature the PC versions of the CPU. AMD might make a CPU series based off of Ryzen 3000U but, for consoles.
