Star Wars Battlefront II Worth it in 2019? A Very Late Review

Should You Get Battlefront II?

EA

If you are a fan of Star Wars, you definitely know about Star Wars Battlefront II. When EA released the game gamers were extremely happy when they heard that Battlefront II isn’t going to feature a season pass or paid DLC but, all of that excitement quickly died down when gamers got their hands on the Battlefront II beta. Fans quickly noticed that Battlefront II featured pay to win mechanics which made games very mad therefore EA took out the pay to win mechanics and the game has been losing players since then. Well, I have revisited the game to see if it’s worth it in 2019.

Microtransactions

Unfortunatly Battlefront II still features microtransactions but, the good news is the fact that the microtransaction is only for cosmetics and you can earn the cosmetic items by playing multiplayer matches. Of course, it’s really hard to get the cosmetic items through gameplay but, if you grind hard enough you can do it. That’s pretty much all of the cosmetics, there are no paid DLCs or anything so all gamers get access to new content when it is relased.

Isn’t Battlefront II Dead?

I’m going to admit, Battlefront II’s player count isn’t very high, at least on PC. When I try to go get into a match of heroes vs villains it takes a very long time for me to find a match that is full but, the other modes work. There hasn’t been a time when I couldn’t find a game of conquest full of players which means that the game still has a large fanbase. You might not be able to find a match for some modes at like 7 am on a Monday but, overall the game is still alive and thriving.

The Graphics

You have definitely heard this many times so I’m going to keep it shoBattlefrontront II looks amazing. Walking around the deserts of the Star Wars galaxy in third-person view with the graphics set to ultra makes you feel like you are actually there. Everything about the game looks absolutely amazing. EA has done a very good job in terms of graphics. The best part is that the game isn’t even that hard to run. With the game set at 1440p ultra with the GTX 1070 I’m consistently getting above 70 FPS and at 1080p the game always stays above 130 FPS. Even if you don’t have a powerful system you’ll still be able to run Battlefront II at acceptable visual settings.

The Story

Unfortunatly the campaign part of the game is a bit disappointing. First of all, it is said that you control a specialized stormtrooper in the empire who tries to get revenge from the Rebels for killing the Emperor and blowing up the Death Star. It would’ve been fun to see the galaxy through a stormtrooper not someone like Vader. In the movies, we have always seen the galaxy from the point of view of the Rebels so I was happy when I heard that in Battlefront II you control a stormtrooper but, the fact that she switches sides halfway through the story was a bit disappointing for me. The worst part is the fact that the story is like 6 hours long so, there really isn’t much content. If you don’t care about multiplayer and only want the story Battlefront II may not be the game for you.

The Multiplayer

The multiplayer part of the game is the part that EA and Dice put the most work into. There are a lot of maps and different modes for you to experience and the heroes make it so the multiplayer doesn’t feel so much like Battlefield 1. If you really enjoyed Battlefield 1’s multiplayer you’ll probably enjoy Battlefront II’s multiplayer as well. The air combat is very fun and exciting, the mechanics work really well and the space ships aren’t that hard to control. My only problem is the star cards as higher level players have a big advantage over lower level players as they have access to more and higher level star cards. Star cards are basically perks that give you things like shied, a grenade, regenerate your health, etc. Fortunately, this doesn’t mean that higher level players will destroy any lower level players which is good news for people looking to pick up the game.

Should You Get It?

Yes. You should get the game. Right now, it’s only $15 for PC and $10 for Xbox One and PS 4 at Walmart which is an extremely low price. If you liked Battlefield 1’s muiltiplayer and like Star Wars this is the game for you. The game is definitely worth $15.
