Intel Tiger Lake XE GPU Benchmarks Leaked

AMD has been capturing a lot of market share in the CPU market thanks to their 7nm CPUs and in the past few months, they have started to capture market share in the laptop market as well. More and more laptop manufactures have been trying to start working with Ryzen as it offers much better performance for productivity work but, it seems like AMD may have a problem when the next-generation of Intel CPUs are released with Tiger Lake architecture and XE GPU.

New Leaked Benchmark

Thanks to the guys over at NotebookCheck, we have gotten our hands on new leaked benchmarks for the next-gen Intel Tiger Lake XE GPUs. According to the leaked benchmark, it is said that Intel is expecting to reach two times graphics performance uplift over 11th-gen GPUs. This is definitely going to be a game-changer for the laptop market as it means that with the next-gen Intel CPUs we may actually be able to do some light gaming and get 60 FPS without setting it to 720p.

As you can see in the chart it seems like the Intel next-gen CPUs are able to perform about two times better than their last-gen counterparts. The Ice Lake i3 Iris Plus G4 is shown as the reference point and we see that that the TIger Lake i3 48 EUs 15W reaches two times the performance while the i7 96 EUs with 28W is able to reach 3.5 times the performance in 3DMark Fire Strike.

How Will AMD Compete?

Seeing the performance increase that Tiger Lake will offer, we wonder how AMD will be able to compete with Intel. Right now we don’t have a lot of information about next-gen AMD APUs but, AMD will have to do a lot of work if they want to catch up. The laptop market is the only market in which Intel basically has had no competition and now if AMD can’t release a more powerful APU Intel will continue to hold its monopoly in the laptop market.
