What Is AMD Ryzen Threadripper Best for ? Video Production? CAD? Gaming? 3D production?

AMD Ryzen Threadripper | What is it made for Gaming or Video Production

The good news for AMD Threadripper fans is that no matter what CPU you choose to go with, you still get ALL platform features and you will only lose the cores. There is no restriction to PCI-E lanes or overclocking. All the CPUs are unlocked for overclocking. All Threadripper CPU will also have the ability to run 8 DDR4 DIMMs with ECC support up to 2TB all in quad channel. While all of the Threadripper CPUs have the same Max Turbo Core Speed of 4GHz and the same maximum eXtended Frequency Rage (XFR) of 4.2GHz, their base clock speeds differ. The 1950X is 3.4GHz, the 1920X is 3.5GHz, and the 1900X is 3.8GHz. While the 1950X and 1920X have the same L3 cache size of 32MB, the 1950X has an L2 cache of 8MB and L1 of 1.5MB and the 1920X has L2 of 6MB and L1 of 1.125MB.

But Based on what your tasks you can go with the 16 cores  1950X or less like 1920X. Most of the AMD advertizing campaign has been focused on the the video editing compositing videos and and 3D works, it is rare to see in AMD side to mention the Threadripper for gaming or audio editing. And it actually may has a reasone in the pole that AMD had a while ago among the AMD Ryzen Threadripper users they used it for 31% 3D Modeling, 18% CAD, 45% Video Production, 06% Audio Editing. Of course if you are an Ultra-gamer you may want to consider it for gaming but you may not see an actual increase ratio in performance comparing to the price you pay to get one. The main power of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper is in the multi core and smart structure to handle heavy workloads and data and multi tasking, while gaming is only one task. What is more effective for games? Stronger single core power is the key.

Multi core CPUs are made to divide the job between 8 , 16 or 26 cores to handle it simultaneously and reduce time, But they can not actually process faster just because of the number of cores. Intel beats AMD almost always when it comes to single core power and Amd keeps up with number of cores but it does not work in every way. And the best tasks that multi cores play a huge role is exactly what AMD is focusing on in their Ads, 3D Rendering, Video Rendering and cad modeling/rendering. If you pay a closer attention to these benchmarks you can see that the multi core power is working greatly for AMD in Cinebench 15 rendering test by cinema 4d. But when you see the single core test you see the Intel core I9 is actually much stronger than AMD Ryzen Threadripper. And it is very interesting that these two CPUs are in the same price range and the question : which one to buy? should be answered by : What  do you want to do with it?
