AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen/Threadripper) Dominating CPU Market But AMD Can’t Compete With NVIDIA (NVDA) | When Will This Trend Change?
AMD Losing to NVIDIA in the GPU Market

If you are a PC enthusiast, you have definitely heard about the fact that the latest generation of AMD 7nm CPUs have been absolutely dominating the market across the board as they offer the same or better performance for a much lower price. Well, AMD has been steadily capturing market share from Intel for a while now but, they haven’t been gaining a lot of ground in the GPU market, and this quarter, they even lost some market share to NVIDIA.
NVIDIA Recaptures Discrete Market Share From AMD
If you have been following the stock market, you most likely know about the fact that in the last month or two, NVIDIA’s stocks have been going up, and they hit a high of $221, and since then, it has come down to $216.74. Well, it’s not much of a surprise to see that NVIDIA was able to ship out a lot of GPUs this quarter. Although AMD shipped out more graphics units, NVIDIA shipped out more discrete graphics units. Because of this factor, NVIDIA’s share climbed by 5% and reached 72.92% in Q3 2019 while AMD’s market share fell down to 27.08% in Q3 2019.

AMD Dominating the CPU Market
Since AMD released Zen 2, it has been absolutely dominating the PC market. AMD’s latest CPUs dominate Intel’s across the board from server CPUs to gaming CPUs. Intel has been getting more and more desperate to compete with AMD. The issue for Intel is the fact that they simply can’t get more performance out of their current generations of CPUs. Intel has been trying to move on to 10nm hardware but, that hasn’t worked out for them. It is reported that the 10nm Intel CPUs are far from release. Intel is now trying to squeeze as much performance as possible from their outdated CPUs but, that hasn’t been going well for them. If this trend continues, AMD is going to replace Intel and basically have a monopoly over the CPU market.
