Is AMD Better Then Nvidia in Terms of Mid-End Gaming?
Let’s be honest here, gaming is a very expensive hobby. If you want a PC that is able to run the latest games at 1080p 60 FPS high to ultra settings, you will have to spend around $500. You might be wondering if AMD is better then Nvidia interms of somewhat cheap GPUs, well let’s take a look
According to benchmarks, Nvidia is a better option then AMD. Things don’t seem to bright for AMD, as Nvidia is ahead in terms of the low-end gaming market and the high-end gaming market. Since AMD doesn’t have a high-end GPU, we really can’t compare Nvidia to AMD in terms of high-end GPUs, but let’s see if AMD is ahead in terms of low-end gaming.

The RX 580 features a boost frequency of 1340 MHz, 6.2 TFLOPs of performance, 2304 Stream Processors, 8 Gbps Memory Speed, and 8 GB of VRAM. The Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB version features a boost clock of 1708 MHz, 8 Gbps of Memory Speed, and 6 GB GDDR5/X of VRAM. From the specs alone, we can infer that the GTX 1060 6 GB is better than the AMD RX 580 but specs aren’t everything. Right now on Amazon, a GTX 1060 6GB will cost you as low as $269 and the RX 580 can be bought for as low as $258

According to benchmarks by Eurogamer, the GTX 1060 pulls ahead of the AMD RX 580 in benchmarks as well. With AC Unity running at ultra 1080p, the AMD RX 580 scored a mean average of 62 FPS and the GTX 1060 6GB scored a score of 61.3 FPS. In some games, the GTX 1060 performs better than the RX 580 in games such as Far Cry Primal. The GTX 1060 6 GB ran at an average of 69.4 FPS while the RX 580 ran the game at 67 FPS.
Title 2 (bold): Which One Should You Get?
The AND RX 580 is definitely the better option. Although in some games the Nvidia GTX 1060 scores one or two FPS more then the RX 580, AMD is still the better option as in many games the RX 580 pulls ahead by more then 5 FPS. The RX 580 is cheaper as well so it is definitely the way to go unless you really want Nvidia.
