ASUS PC & Laptop Market share In US & Global 2017-2018 Plans
Asus as one of the most trusted tech brands in the world is now hoping to capture some of north America tech market, especially by the new zenfon 4 smartphone family. Asus holds a much better position in the global market share of Personal Computers, both in mobile/laptops and non mobile PCs/Desktops than it’s USA or generally north America market share. Asus has about 5% of global PC market share while in US it goes down to less than 2 % of PCs. Maybe It actually is a good plan for Asus to make some brand recognition acts in US by smartphones and that may lead to better market reaction to other tech products from asus like PCs and laptops.
The low US PC market share is not actually happened because of a negative/bad experience by the north American users but it is mostly because of the fact that ASUS is not actually as known to the Tech enthusiastic users as it is known by all the PC users. LaptopMag Actually ranks asus the second laptop brand out there for 2017 and and asus has been in the top 5 all the last 5 years. Maybe getting more popular with the smartphones and tablets let more people know about asus and help it grow in US markets.
The most important According to IDC, the 60+ million shipments in 2016 represented the PC market’s first year-over-year growth in five years. It was only up 0.6%, but it could mean the market is finally starting to stabilize after years of smartphones and tablets eating at its ankles. As The Verge recently noted, some of the growth appears to be a result of the IDC including Google’s Chromebooks as part of its totals. A separate report from Gartner, which does not count Chromebooks as PCs, found that the market declined 2.4% year-over-year.
As Gartner reported earlier, Worldwide PC shipments totaled 67 million units in the 3rd Q 2017, a 3.6% decline from the third quarter of 2016, according to preliminary results by Gartner. This seems to be the 12th consecutive quarter of declining PC shipments.
“While there were signs of stabilization in the PC industry in key regions, including EMEA, Japan and Latin America, the relatively stable results were offset by the U.S. market, which saw a 10 percent year-over-year decline in part because of a very weak back-to-school sales season,” said Mika Kitagawa, principal analyst at Gartner.
“Business PC demand, led by Windows 10 upgrades, continued to drive PC shipments across all regions, but its refresh schedule varies by region. The countries with stable economies, such as the U.S., have created a positive sentiment among businesses, especially for small and midsized businesses (SMBs), which are more vulnerable to external events, such as economic or political.” said Mika Kitagawa, principal analyst at Gartner.
