DayZ Xbox One X to run at 4k 30 FPS PC cross-play unlikely
DayZ is going to look good on the Xbox One X
DayZ has been around on Steam since December 2013 and it’s still in early access. DayZ hasn’t been doing as well as it was back in 2013. The player count drop happened due to it being in early access for a very long time and other popular games such as PUBG. Even though DayZ’s player count has fallen down to 2,000 players or lower average players since August. In August PUBG’s average player count got a 159,825.7 gain. Many developers would give up on their game and start development on a new game especially if the developers are an indie dev. DayZ’s devs didn’t give up on the game and they are working on an Xbox One port of the game which is supposed to come out sometime this year.
DayZ’s Tweeter account Tweeted, “It was a busy day at the @ID_Xbox #GDC18 loft! We’ve done some early Xbox presentations of #DayZ to the media – more news will follow soon!” A user asked about DayZ’s performance on the Xbox One and DayZ Development said, “It’s all work in progress, but we’re already peaking at 50-60 FPS in 1080p on Xbox One X and we plan to support 4K@30 FPS. We’ll see where we end up though!” Another user asked them if Xbox One and PC cross-play is possible and they answered with, “That’s unlikely – while it’s perfectly viable from the technology perspective, we’d rather not mix PC and console players because it would cause a noticeable disbalance in gameplay.”
DayZ’s development team could fix the balancing issue between Xbox One and PC by letting players that want to play with friends on other platforms play in cross-platform servers. Players that want to play with their own platform can play in non-cross-platform servers. You can purchase DayZ for $34.99 on Steam.
