Dev says Xbox One X cant run games at 4k
Dave Elder Killing floor 2’s Graphics Programmer said Xbox One X can’t handle true 4k !!
When the Xbox One X was announced, Microsoft said it is going to play every game at actual 4k, but it seems like that was a lie. According to the benchmarks, we saw Xbox One X isn’t going to play every game at real 4k and killing Floor 2 is going to be another none 4K game on the Xbox One X.
Dave Elder [Senior Graphics Programmer on Killing Floor 2] said, “Killing Floor 2 runs at native 1800p, fixed resolution (no checkerboarding) on Xbox One X. We did experiment with true 4k rendering, but the frame rate drop was a bit too significant. 1800p provides the optimal balance between visual quality and performance in Killing Floor 2.” He also said, “We will be using Ultra textures on Xbox One X. We are also increasing the resolution of our shadow maps and shadow draw distance.” I am disappointed with the results considering that the PS 4 Pro runs it at ultra setting 1800p [not native] and a Gtx 1070 runs it at 4k Ultra settings 30+ fps. At 1440p Ultra settings, a GTx 1070 gets 60 fps for almost the whole time, and it never dips below 55 FPS.
