Don’t Boycott Metro Exodus (Opinion)

This is Why You Shouldn’t Boycott Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is an upcoming first-person shooter and, if you are into gaming you probably already know what the game’s developers did about the Steam store. Basically, Metro Exodus’s publisher Deep Silver decided to release the game on the Epic games store instead of Steam simply because developers get more revenue from the sales of their games. Right now, Valve takes a 30% cut from developers sales while the Epic Game store only takes a 12% cut. The thing is the fact that fans have been hating on Deep Silver for making this decision and it makes no sense.

There really is no reason for anyone to be mad at Deep Silver. If you pre-ordered the game on Steam you’ll still get the game, DLCs, and updates so, you really aren’t losing anything from Deep Silver’s decision. If you didn’t pre-order the game on Steam, it may be a bit inconvenient as you’ll have to buy your games from the Epic Games Store instead of Steam. There is no reason for gamers to boycott Metro Exodus.

Although it is a bit inconvenient, this decision is good for everyone as it means Deep Silver is going to make more money then they would have through Steam so, they can reduce prices or release more free content through the extra profits. This also means that Valve will have to step their game up so that they can compete with Epic Games and more competition is always better for consumers. Steam has had a monopoly over the PC gaming market for way too long so it’s nice to see some change.

In conculusion, Deep Silver’s decision to move Metro Exodus to the Epic Games store is good for all of us. The developers are going to make more money, gamers are going to get more content, and there is going to be competition which means Valve will have to improve Steam to get gamers and developers to go back.
