Star Wars Battlefront (2015) was very disappointing to gamers, and when EA announced Star Wars Battlefront 2 fans were very excited, and EA hyped the game. The fans were thrilled until gamers realized loot boxes gave players that bought it advantages. Right now Electronic Arts is under investigation for gambling because of loot boxes. This investigation might stop other companies from putting micro-transactions in their games.

Right now Electronic Arts is under investigation for illegally facilitating gambling. Yesterday it was revealed that the Belgian government is investigating Star Wars Battlefront 2. In Belgian games require a special license for gambling and Peter Naessens (Chancellor Commission’s director) said Star Wars Battlefront 2 has gambling in it because you pay real money for loot boxes and the loot boxes randomly give you an item that gives players an advantage over gamers that don’t use it. That means almost all other games with loot boxes will need to get a gambling license in Belgian.

EA has responded to them through GameSpot. EA told GameSpot Battlefront 2’s loot box system isn’t gambling. EA said a player could succeed in Star Wars Battlefront 2 without buying crates. According to EA, the loot box system isn’t gambling because you can succeed without buying loot boxes and players can get crates through playing the game and earning credits. Battlefront 2 loot boxes will give you many different things. Gamers can get Star cards, new weapons, upgraded perks, and much more from loot boxes. In the Battlefront 2 beta gamers were able to buy crates and use the items even if the items were maxed level and the player was the lowest level. EA changed the loot box system after the beta. In the new system, you need to be a certain level to use star cards that you get from crates, but many gamers still call Battlefront 2 a pay to win.
