Facebook Introduces ‘Oculus Go’ standalone VR headset that Costs $199

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a new mobile headset called “Oculus Go” coming 2018.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled a new mobile headset called “Oculus Go.” Onstage at Oculus Connect 4 in silicon Valley, San Jose. Zuckerberg mentioned that: “it’s the most accessible VR headset yet;”  it costs you $199 and it’s going to be shipping early 2018. The closest product to Oculus Go is google day dream and Gear vr, One is actually made by Oculus +Samsung and the day dream is from google that just announced the 2nd version last week. Facebook H. Barra called the device, “hands-down the easiest way for developers to get involved with VR.” He said it’s lightweight and “feels incredibly soft to wear.” The width of view and field-of-view as big as Oculus Rift and it has a small controller similar to the one that ships with the newest version of  Gear VR that came in 2017 Q3 to fit the note 8 release.

At first Facebook was focusing on high end VR devices working with PC like Rift and tried to cover the stand along phone version by working with Samsung on Gear Vr, but now Oculus Go will really open up a new market to Facebook, allowing them to perhaps slowly move away from relying on phone manufacturers like Samsung for their entry-level VR experiences. Facebook is no releasing the first important competitor of Gear VR that was domination the market with much higher features and apps and games that the google day dream.
