Stand Alone VR Headsets | Oculus-Go vs Daydream vs GearVR vs VIVE
Facebook and google and Samsung has recently released the new VR headsets and HTC is Joining
Facebook has recently announced their own stand alone VR the Oculus-Go and Google is announcing the 2nd Version of Daydream while the new GearVR from Samsung was released 2 week after the new giant Smartphone release Note 8 from samsung to support their new phone. They are all new and hot. If you are a VR fan and have tried some of the old versions before specially the Gear VR that was made by facbook+Samsung should have seen that the huge upgrades are mostly related to the new devices they support. But this time its a bit different. Oculus has the new Remote and huge upgrades in how you interact with the VR world. Much faster and much clearer specially with the 4k support of Note 8 but unfortunately its only for samsung users. If you do not have samsung you should keep your fingers crossed the new Oculus Go from Facebook which made the Original version The Rift, Brings all the good things in GearVR that samsung users are enjoying.
On the other hand Google Daydream has very good design and basic Firmwares and interaction but the main issue with Daydream is the lack of deeply developed applications and adaptation to web and web VR. The 2nd version is said to be fixing those even in late updates of the 1st Daydream version but not really especially the WebVR that basically lets you go to websites and play their VR contents. And not beside working on the VIVE which is very high tech AR/VR system HTC is working on the new stand alone VR that is coming soon to fit in the market that works with cellphones they have recently put it on their website as the upcoming VR product.
Oculus Go, as the name says, is designed to be a cheap and accessible VR, an entry point that doesn’t need a smartphone or a PC to run. All you need to do is pick up one of these headsets when it launches next year and you’ll have everything you need to jump into VR with one of these soon. Some of the main issues that it Oculuse go is solving is the weight of the cellphone, the need for a high-end cellphone, the mandatory angels and design specs of the VR headsets to be adopted with the flat screen of a cellphone and we may get huge upgrades in the 3D specs too. So if you call these standalone VR head sets maybe the most stand alone one is the Facebook’s Oculus Go cause it does not even a phone to work. The actual screen of the Oculus go is a fast-switch LCD panel with a 2560×1440 resolution. That’s a little less than the 2960×1440 display fitted to the Gear VR-compatible Samsung Note 8, Oculus has mentioned that the screen is “specifically optimized for VR”, with a higher pixel fill factor than the OLED display used in Rift, reducing the screen door effect in which you can see the space between pixels. It is so specifically designed for VR only that everybody expect it to beat the rivals from samsung ,google and HTC.
