It seems like Battlegrounds might have some competition. This battle royal game was released on September 26th, and Epic games announced more than 1 million players played the game, but right now Fortnite is not even in Steams top 10 most played games today.

Fortnite player counts in consoles will probably be very high because it is free and right now PUBG is only available on PC so Fortnite could eat into the profit PUBG makes in the consoles. The game might not even exist in the future because Bluhole might make legal threats against Fortnite. Bluehole is accusing them of copying PUBG and using PUBG in an ad without saying anything to Bluehole. The problem is that PUBG is kind of a copycat. The creator of PUBG (Brendan Greene) designed H1Z1 king of the kill and PUBG took a lot of mechanics from H1Z1 king of the kill.

Many other companies have been making mini-games or games like PUBG, for example, In GTA Online’s new game mode you jump out of a plane, pick up guns and kill the people in the other team just like PUBG. Many people think Bluehole is doing this because of business politics. There were rumors that mega Chinese company Tencent is going to invest in Bluehole, but they partially own Epic games so if Fortnite becomes very successful Tencent might not invest in Bluehole.
