How Will the Next-Gen Sony PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR 2) Compete With the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive? (Leaks and Rumors)

The PSVR 2 Is Rumored to Be Fully Wireless!

PS 4 Pro from trusted reviews

Right now VR gaming isn’t very popular amongst gamers as VR headsets cost hundreds of Dollars and systems that can run VR games also cost hundreds of Dollars. The PSVR is by far the most successful VR headset as any PS 4 user can hook up the PSVR to their console and enjoy a smooth VR experience for a very low price when compared to the competing VR headsets on PC. One of the biggest things that the PSVR has fallen behind on is a newer and more modern controller like the Oculus Touch but, it seems like Sony is going to release a new controller for the headset as well as the ability for the headset to be fully wireless which means that you don’t need a truckload of wires attached to you at all times.

Exclusive: PSVR 2 To be Fully Wireless!

A source that described him/her self as someone from Sony has informed us that the next-gen PlayStation VR 2 is going to be fully wireless and they have supported their claim with the concept image below. This rumor must be taken with a grain of salt but, it’s not totally unrealistic as we have seen this kind of thing done before. We were told that the headset is going to use LLW technology, which is going to allow gamers to stream their games from the console onto the headset. It’s going to be very similar to the “remote play” feature which allowed players to stream their PS 4 games onto the PS Vita. The PSVR 2 is going to work the same way, but, it’ll be a lot smoother and easier to use then “remote play.”

New Controller!

According to the latest rumors going around the internet, Sony is also working on an improved controller for the PSVR 2 which is supposedly going to replace the PlayStation Move controllers. The new controller is going to be a lot more modern and immersive than the PlayStation Move. The rumors claim that the new controller is going to be something like the Oculus Touch but a little bit better.

Updated Specs

The PSVR 2 is obviously going to feature upgraded specs. According to the latest rumors, the headset is going to support up to 24 Gbps total video throughput via single or dual video ports as well as 4k panels! As of now, there are no VR headsets that feature a 4k panel from the big manufacturers. The headset is also going to feature HDR which means that your games will look very pretty.

Will the PSVR 2 Compete?

Right now we don’t know what the next HTC Vive and Oculus Rift are going to be like but, the PSVR 2 is going to be powerful as it’s rumored to be fully wireless and feature a 4k HDR panel! The headset is also going to receive a new and upgraded controller which it desperately needed as the PlayStation Move controllers are very outdated by today’s standards.
