In Rules of Survival lawsuit, PUBG Corp says cosmetic items do affect game-play
PUBG Corp says that cosmetic items that players can buy with microtransactions do affect game-play
In recent years gaming companies have been slowly placing microtransactions into their games. When a company places microtransactions into a game that costs $60 gamers don’t like it and the game doesn’t succeed but companies have been placing paid cosmetic items into games. The devs say that cosmetic items don’t affect gameplay so it doesn’t matter if you can buy them with real money but it seems PUBG Corp doesn’t believe that. PUBG Corp has been trying to sue PUBG clones the biggest being Rules of Survival a battle royal mobile game that is pretty much PUBG mobile but it was released a long time ago. PUBG Corp stated that cosmetic items do impact game-play.
PUBG Corp said, “However, clothing does affect gameplay in terms of camouflage. Clothing can be used to assist the player to blend in with the environment, making the player less visually detectable. In particular, BATTLEGROUNDS includes a Ghillie suit, a full body suit covered with camouflaging material typically used by snipers. The Ghillie suit allows the player to become nearly visually invisible depending upon the terrain.” PUBG Corp said that players need to find enemies and suits that are green help players blend into the environment.
PUBG Corp has already tried to file a lawsuit against Epic Game’s Fortnite. Fortnite might have some PUBG elements but Rules of Survival is a full-on copycat. PUBG has recently been released for mobile but Rules of Survival has been out for longer and it’s a big competition for PUBG mobile. Rules of Survival’s map looks very similair to PUBG’s map and pretty much everything else has a PUBG counterpart. Rules of survival looks very much like PUBG. Seeing that PUBG Corp attempted to sue Epic Games even though Fortnite looks nothing like PUBG it’s no surprise that they are trying to sue a copycat.
