Lenovo, Asus and Dell Lead the 2017 Best Laptops Ranking List

After a year of high competitive market for laptop and PC makers and an interesting  and full of new products year for consumers, 2017 came to its end and laptop mag has released 2017 best laptop brands of the year. While lenovo is leading and asus and dell are going after that the list takes the attention to thee global market share of these best brands. The interesting point is that you can actually see lenovo and dell in the top list of the market share but not asus. of course the list is not made based on the popularity ranking. It is mostly based on creativity, quality and productivity while the users and critics feedback is also applied to the ranking.  It is good to mention that HP is falling behind only by 1% distance from Dell. Interesting to point out that Apple has scored 78 and is on 5th place while having market share that is almost three time more than what asus has. If the list was just based on popularity or market share that would look a lot different.

How the brands are scored in Laptop mag ranging

Each brand is scored based on a 100-point scale. Points are awarded in six different categories: Design, Reviews, Tech Support, Warranty, Innovation and Value and Selection.

Reviews (35 points): Brand quality is to be measured this way. They used the ratings between Feb. 1, 2016, and Feb. 28, 2017. We took the average laptop rating for each brand (Laptop Mag rates on 1 to 5 scales), converted that average rating to a 35-point scale, and then added a 0.5-point bonus for each Editors’ Choice award.

Design (15 points): Each brand has a design DNA that cuts across its product lines and it can contribute in here.

Tech Support (20 points): Companies use Phone, web and social channels to connect to costumers. The brands performance is reflected here.

Innovation (10 points): Brand’s ability to move the market forward by implementing or developing new technologies, as well as taking risks.

Value and Selection (15 points): Wide range of laptop types (budget, business, gaming, etc.) and  providing aggressive pricing.

Warranty (5 points): Some make you pay for shipping when you send in a product for repairs some dont it will be reflected here + Companies got credit for selling laptops with longer warranties or free accidental-damage protection and for offering a variety of extended warranty options. They lost some credit for policies that void your warranty for upgrading the RAM or for passing along the shipping costs.
