The new Windows 10 fall update has added a lot of features, but many people aren’t talking about one of the most important new features added to Win10. With the new update, Microsoft added an anti-cheat system called TruePlay.

TruePlay is built so developers can have better anti-cheat systems in their games. According to the TruePlay page games that use this feature will play in a “protected process,” that means cheaters will have a hard time accessing that game’s code. Microsoft also added a new service that monitors games to make sure players don’t cheat, the system collects data and alerts the game dev if the system thinks you’re cheating. Gamers hope the system works and players don’t get banned for no reason. In other games, players got banned for hacking even though they were innocent.

Players will be able to turn this feature off. The game will still launch if the feature is off if you turn it off the system will not have access parts of the game that have TruePlay on. The developer might turn it off for some parts of the game such as the single player part. It sounds like TruPlay will not work. Any cheater could just turn it off. We don’t know if any games use TruePlay.

It seems like if TruePlay didn’t work and banned people for no reason, gamers could turn it off, but cheaters could turn TruePlay off and cheat as much as they want. Many games had lousy anti-cheat systems. Call of Duty WW2’s beta was full of hackers in the PC version. Many players saw hackers in the beta, and they couldn’t report the hackers. Activision did say the beta didn’t have the full anti-cheat system. Other games such as For Honor banned players for no reason. When For Honor launched many innocent people got banned and one of them didn’t even own the game. In the future, TruePlay might be the feature that every game uses to keep cheaters out, or it could be the feature that everyone forgets about it.
