New Bitmain ASIC for EThash / Ethereum, Is It The End Of Expensive GPUs Era?

Bitmain just announced it new ASIC to mine ETH and it is not actually a bad option for miners. It gives them 180 Mh in EThash and has 800w power consumption, up to here it is just like a 6 gpu rig. But the fact that it costs 800$ it means soon and fast returns for the miners and many of them will consider it as a very good option. Because getting the same hashrate with gpus cost you about 4000$ right now.

Ethereum’s community informal poll done recently suggests a possible hard fork for mining eth, the asic for eth has become a very conserning issue for the current ethash rigs owners and it also follows Monero’s rejection of centralized hashpower last month. Monero devlead Riccardo Spagni warned that the coin’s protocol would be changed every six months to stymie ASIC monopolies. Now the Ethash compatible ASIC miner for sure will impact Ethereum markets, according to some commentators. Keep your eyes on the market today to see if anything new is going to happen in both GPU market prices and ETH currency price.

Now if miners start selling their rigs and go for the new bitmain asic and Ethereum HQs dont make any move like it happened in monero case we should see a huge change in in GPU prices for gamers.

Here is Bitmain main announcement in the newsletter today:

We are proud and happy to announce the all-new Antminer E3, a new Antminer model for mining cryptocurrencies based on the hashing algorithm Ethash.

The Antminer E3 is estimated to deliver a minimum hashrate of 180MH/s while consuming 800W of total power.

The very first batch of the Antminer E3 is available to order now and all orders will be shipped as soon the miners are ready. Although this is estimated to be after 16 July 2018 (and before 31 July 2018), we will ship all orders as soon as the miners are ready.

To prevent hoarding by some users or resellers and to ensure that more individuals around the globe are able to order this new ASIC miner:

There is an ordering limit of one miner per user.
The miner is unavailable in Mainland China.
The batch cannot be ordered if the delivery address is in Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan.
