We recently heard about Metroid Prime 4 Switch in development, and many fans want to know if we will see future Metroid Prime games. According to Yoshio Sakamoto, they have no plans. Sakamoto says it all depends on the fans. He told GameRant, “It really depends on the reasons you have for undertaking such a challenge, whether there’s a need for it, and your own motivation, but at the moment I have no plans for another remake. I think we need to spend time considering whether fans are only wanting remakes going forward, and what that might mean.” That is a disappointing response considering Metroid Prime has a huge fan base. Sakamoto told GmaeRant this in the “why Nintendo opted to bring Samus Returns to 3DS rather than Switch” interview. The last Metroid game was released on August 19, 2016, and it was called Metroid Prime: Federation Force. Metroid Prime: Federation Force was released for the 3DS. Metroid Prime 4 is in development for the Switch, and it will come out in June 2017. Metroid: Samus Returns is going to be released on the 3DS in June 2017. Metroid Prime: Federation Force was a total disaster for Nintendo, it only sold 0.11 million copies. That might be reason Sakamoto said it all depends on the fans. If these Metroid games fail, Nintendo will probably stop making Metroid games.
