Retailer says Xbox game pass ruins their business

Retailers don’t like Xbox Game Pass a lot

Xbox Game Pass has over one hundred games and the fact that it costs only $10 a month is a no-brainer for many gamers around the world. We have heard that digital stores have been driving retailers out of business because many gamers would rather pay $59.99 and buy a game from the comfort of their home instead of drive to a game store and picking up the same game for the same price. So it should come as no shock that retailers dislike Xbox Game Pass.

Retailers don’t like Xbox Game Pass because many gamers would pay $10 and get access to one hundred Xbox One games for a whole month instead of paying $15 for a used game from their local game store. In an interview with Extreme Gamez (A UK Video Game retailer) told GamesIndustry.biz, “Essentially, it’s made [our Xbox business] worthless overnight. You’ve got the whole section sat there, and why would people buy a £12 to £15 second-hand game when they can just pay a tenner and get a massive catalogue of titles to keep them going? Effectively overnight they’ve wiped massive value off our company and made it not worth doing.”  Apparently, Extreme Gamez is not going to stock Xbox products anymore because they say that Microsoft doesn’t support them. “Why should we support them and sell their consoles and accessories if we’re going to get very little out of it? We don’t make anything off their digital selection. It’s pretty pointless. We might as well go where we’re supported, which is Sony,” Extreme Gamez said. They say that they aren’t going to stock Sea of Thieves at all because online retailers and stores will be selling it less than their prices and with Xbox Game Pass most gamers will just buy a few months of Xbox Game Pass and play hundreds of games as well as Sea of Thieves for the same price.

Recently Microsoft announced that all of their first party games will be available to gamers through Xbox Game Pass. Right now Xbox Game Pass has more than 100 hundred games. Many of those games are very popular games, Microsoft added Xbox 360 games to it too. Right now gamers can get Gears of War 4, ReCore, Halo 5, Resident Evil 6, PayDay 2, Bioshock Infinite, Border Lands, Gears of War 3, Gears of War 2, Metal Gear Solid V, and many more games. Right now Xbox Game Pass costs $9.99 for a month and gamers can get a 14-day free trial.
