Ryzen 5 2500U Laptop Benchmarks Are Out And Intel Should Be Worried

In the mid-range mobile CPU Core i5-8250U  is known to be fast CPU of the category but with more than double the graphics performance, the Ryzen 5 2500U is killing it and AMD needs it to break through in the notebook market. This is probably something Intel knew about before going in a huge deal with AMD for ultrathin laptops with high graphic performance. The HP Envy x360 15 and x360 13 were the first notebooks announced by AMD that will be available to ship with AMD’s new Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 Mobile series of CPUs. While the Ryzen 7 SKUs are still not found really, we have hear about asus 8-core gaming laptop with ryzen 7 but its not out yet. NothbookCheck has just announced the new benchmarks of the quad-core Ryzen 5 2500U in the new Envy x360 15. The CineBench R15 scores for our Ryzen 5 2500U test notebook are identical to Intel’s Core i5-8250U in both single- and multi-threaded loads. The CineBench R15 Single scores : HP Envy x360 15m-bq1xx AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 137 Points ∼69%. The CineBench R15 Multi scores574 Points ∼27%. Now the graphics benchmarks, 3DMark 11 scores of Vega 8 in the HP convertible are much faster than the HD Graphics on the Intel U-class.

The AMD APU performance is midway between the GeForce 940MX and GeForce MX150. But it is interesting to know that the two Nvidia alternatives mentioned are both discrete GPUs not on board solutions and that is huge, AMD is basically making integrated graphics as strong as the Nvidia discrete GPUs. The 3Dmark score: HP Envy x360 AMD Radeon RX Vega 8, 2500U :2918 Points. New Ryzen 7 2700U and Ryzen 5 2500U are now being produced. AMD has almost claimed that the Ryzen 7 2700U  is Ready for the 1080P and 4K displays and bringing gaming with this resolution and also VR support to ultra thin platforms. The Introduction by AMD senior vice president and general manager was:

“We promised to bring innovation and competition back to every segment of the PC market in 2017, and today marks the fulfillment of that promise for consumer notebooks following our successful roll-out across the consumer, commercial and high-end desktop markets earlier this year,” said Jim Anderson, senior vice president and general manager, Computing and Graphics Group in AMD.
