Sea of Thieves Microsoft most successful IP on Win 10 2 million units sold

Sea of Thieves was a long-anticipated game. Although the new game has many flaws from repetition to performance issues it has already sold two million units on the Xbox One and PC in only eight days. 

Xbox Wire wrote, The worldwide excitement for Sea of Thieves has made it the fastest-selling first-party new IP of this generation. Having witnessed more than a million players on launch day, our community continues to grow and now has more than two million players. Alongside this, Sea of Thieves is already the best-selling Microsoft Studios first-party title on Windows 10.” That isn’t surprising seeing how Microsoft has recently got into PC games and most first-party Microsoft games on the PC didn’t do very well as they weren’t very good. A million players played the game in only one day most games don’t do well. Seeing the numbers it wasn’t surprising Rare’s servers couldn’t handle all of the players.

More then 100k players have streamed Sea of Thieves on Twitch. Xbox Wire wrote, “More than 100,000 players have streamed Sea of Thieves since launch, resulting in more than 10 million hours watched in the last week.” Right now Sea of Thieves has 392,031 followers on Twitch with 23,583 viewers. These numbers aren’t very surprising seeing how many copies Sea of Thieves sold and all the hype that was surrounding the game.

Sea of Thieves was released on March 20, 2018 for the Xbox One and PC. Sea of Thieves was surrounded by a lot of hype but when the game came out some gamers were disappointed. Sea of Thieves was repetitive for many gamers. The game doesn’t have real progression many reviewers say that there is no point in trying to get coins because all you can do is buy cosmetic items and since there isn’t much to do the game becomes repetitive after a while. Another flaw is that for most gamers they have to play with a friend to have fun.
