As soon as Bloomberg Business Weekly published an article entitled ¡°the mainland of China implanted spy programmable voice chip in the manufacturing process of super micro server motherboard¡±, China’s chip industry set off another wave after the ZTE incident, and the domestic chip industry fell into a low valley.
The article alleges that in 2015, the mainland of China planted spy chips in the process of making super micro server motherboard so as to steal business secrets from 30 U.S. enterprises with NR7100S Recording Voice Chip and voice IC, and named Apple and Amazon as victims. However, the United States legal person analyze that the happening probability of this incident is not high regarding the server motherboard development and production process. And the growth trend of the white card server mall is unchanged, but will be speeded up the transfer of production base.
After the Bloomberg report The Big Hack was cancelled on Thursday, the three companies named super micro, Apple and Amazon all criticized it, but it has aroused widespread comment. Shares of Quanta (2382), WISTRON (3231) and INVENTEC Corporation (2356) also fell sharply, especially WISTRON, the supplier of super micro, now is showing the trend of broken-up.
The foreign capital of American department thinks that it is not possible to change the original plan of producing on-line and add spy chips in the messy process of developing and manufacturing server motherboard, but this work may have a negative impact on many voice chip manufacturers such as server ODM. The IDC statement cited by the FDI pointed out that super micro servers shipped 548,700 units in the previous year and 331,300 units in the first half of this year, accounting for 5.4% and 5.9% of the market respectively. However, WISTRON had only 1% of the total number of servers shipped.
The legal person is still optimistic about the growing trend of white card server stores, but production bases are expected to accelerate their transfer from the mainland because of the U.S. -China trade war and the pressure of public opinion on American customers at these server-building factories.
