AMD winning the mid/low end laptop market but losing PC market to Intel AMD losing most of the market to Intel Credit: AMD/Intel When AMD launched their brand new line up of CPUs the Ryzen CPUs, and they bounced back into the market, Ryzen AMD CPUs were used for low end laptops and computers. So if you wanted a good gaming PC you needed to buy an Intel CPU. When Ryzen was launched AMD and Intel switched places for a few months, AMD Ryzen was priced at a low price compared to something like the Intel Core I7 7700k, a Ryzen 7 1700 has 8 cores and costs $$229.99. The Intel Core I7 7700k was priced around $350 at the time. Ryzen also beat Intel in the high-end market. A $500 Ryzen CPU was able to compete with a $1000 Intel CPU. When Intel released their new Coffe Lake CPUs they bounced back and recently it was announced that Intel Coffe Lake CPUs have been selling better than Ryzen CPUs. When AMD's new CPUs with Vega APUs are released AMD will capture the mid and low end laptop market from Intel. AMD is going to release four CPUs with APUs for Laptop the Ryzen 7 2700U, Ryzen 5 2500U, the Ryzen 3 2300U, and the Ryzen 3 2200U. Intel's best-integrated graphics on Laptops the HD 620 with an i7-7500U get's a score of 1750 on 3D Mark 11. AMD's weakest CPU with an APU the Ryzen 3 2200U with the Vega 3 mobile APU get's an impressive score of 1898 on 3D Mark 11. The Ryzen 7 2700U with a Vega 10 mobile gets a score of 4072 on 3D Mark 11. The Ryzen 5 2500u with the Vega 8 mobile scores 2655 on 3D Mark 11 and he Ryzen 3 2300u gets a score of 3253 on 3D Mark 11. These CPUs will be perfect for someone that wants to do some light gaming (benchmarks from moepc.net) On the mid to high-end side of PCs Intel is beating AMD' Ryzen with their Coffe Lake CPUs. From August 2017 until November AMD had more market share than Intel.In November AMD had 58% of the market share but in December Intel captured most of the market. In December Intel pulled up and got 54% of the market and in January Intel’s market share rose to 58%. Most people bought the I7 8700k in December and January.
