Right now, Intel doesn't have a real competitor for the AMD Threadripper 2990WX as Intel's $2000 CPU the Core i9-7980XE features only 18 Cores and 36 Threads, and that's not even close to the Threadripper 2990WX. According to benchmarks, this CPU is going to destroy Intel in the high-end CPU market. The Threadripper 2990WX was announced recently and it is definitely a beast. The CPU features 32 Cores, 64 threads, 3.0 GHz base and 3.4 GHz precision boost clocks, Socket sTR4, DDR4 Support, 12nm Pinnacle Ridge, and it is Unlocked for overclocking. This places as the most powerful consumer CPU as the Intel I9-7980XE only features 18 Cores/36 Threads which is significantly less then Threadripper's 32 cores and 64 threads. According to a supposed leak the 9th-gen Intel CPUs, are going to be released sometime in October. Apparently, Intel is going to release the I9-9900K, I7-9700K, and the I5-9600K sometime in August. The flagship model is rumored to feature 8 cores, 16 threads, 16 MB of L3 Cache, and the Intel UHD 620 IGPU. The card is going to run at a base clock of 3.6 GHz and a boost clock of 5.0 GHz and it is going to use 95TDP. 4 core boost is rated at 4.8 GHz while 6/8 core boost is rated at 4.7 GHz.
