The Future of Portable Gaming Looks Very Bright Thanks to AMD’s Ryzen G series CPUs
Right Now You Can actually game with integrated GPUs thanks to AMD
Before AMD released their Ryzen line up of CPUs, almost all of the CPU market was occupied by Intel. If you are into PC gaming you should know that before AMD released their Ryzen CPUs unless you wanted to build your self a low-end system that can barely run any games you would’ve bought yourself an Intel CPU. The Ryzen CPUs changed up Intel’s plan. It forced Intel to release their next CPUs a lot faster then they planned to release them. Intel also controlled the laptop market but when AMD released their Ryzen G series CPUs they started regaining some of the laptop market as well. AMD’s Ryzen G series CPUs feature integrated GPUs that are much more powerful than Intel’s.
According to benchmarks by AnandTech, the Ryzen 5 2400G CPU was able to run Civilization 6, 1080p, ultra settings and get 32 FPS. On the other hand, Intel’s I7 8700 ran the game at 10.9 FPS. In Shadow of Mordor the Ryzen 5 2400G was able to get 24.53 FPS, while running the game at 1080p ultra settings. On the other hand the I7 8700 ran the game at 10.7 FPS at the same settings. While GTA V was running at 1080p very high settings the Ryzen 5 2400G ran it at 19.67 FPS and the I3 8350k ran it at 4.86 FPS.
As you can see with the Ryzen 5 2400G if you set your games at medium 1080p you should be able to run the game very smoothly but with Intel’s most powerful integrated GPU you will have to play a game that doesn’t require a lot of power.
If these CPUs continue getting better and better soon a portable console such as the Nintendo Switch might be able to play triple-A games smoothly and good visuals.
Right now you can purchase the Ryzen 5 2400G for $159 from Amazon and the Ryzen 3 2200G for $96.
