The Lower-End RTX GPUs (2070, 2060) are Going to Fail and Drop Nvidia by Millions of Dollars

The Lower-End Nvidia RTX GPUs are Going to be Disappointing

The Nvidia RTX GPUs have been greatly hyped up thanks to the number of rumors that were claiming these GPUs are going to be revelutionary for the gaming market and finally make 4K at 60 FPS ultra possible on every game but those rumors weren’t at all true. Now that they are out, even the RTX 2080 an $800 GPU barely outperforms the GTX 1080 TI in terms of gaming, and that is very disappointing as the GTX 1080 TI can cost you as low as $680 on Amazon.

RTX 2080 and 2080 TI Disappointing Benchmarks

The Nvidia RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 TI are powerful, but they aren’t powerful enough to run every game at 4k, 60 FPS. Honestly, they aren’t much of an upgrade over the Titan XP and GTX 1080 TI. According to benchmarks done by Techspot, the Nvidia RTX 2080 and 2080 TI aren’t much of an upgrade.

As you can see on the benchmarks above, the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 TI aren’t much of an upgrade and when you consider their price points, it is foolish to buy an RTX 2080 or the RTX 2080 TI at least right now. If ray tracing is good enough, it might make it worth it.

Are the Lower-End RTX GPUs Going to be a Disappointment?

On paper, yes the RTX 2070 is going to be a disappointment. The RTX 2070 will start from $599.99 and if you want the reference models, you will have to pay more then $650. For $650, you can buy the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC GPU, and this GPU has 11 GB of VRAM while the RTX 2070 only has 8 GB. The RTX 2070 is going to fail, either way, Nvidia will either have to bring down the price of the RTX 2070 or lose millions as most gamers would rather buy a GTX 1080 TI instead. Now let’s talk about the RTX 2060. The RTX 2060 will likely cost around $200 less than the RTX 2070 placing it at a whopping $399. If you put $30 on it you will be able to get a GTX 1070 TI which will most likely perform much better then the RTX 2060.

When the RTX 2070 comes out, the prices for the Nvidia 10 series GPUs are likely going to drop even more, and that would make RTX useless. According to rumors, the lower-end versions of the cards aren’t even going to feature ray tracing, and that would render RTX useless.

Is Nvidia Going to Drop?

Nvidia stocks have already dropped by 1.4%, but gamers have been hoping that at least the lower-end versions of the GPUs are going to deliver Nvidia’s promise, but it seems like that isn’t going to happen either. Unless Nvidia does something to the 10/20 series GPUs, RTX is 100% going to fail, and if AMD releases a competitor, AMD will likely overtake Nvidia.
