Ubisoft is a very big company, and it has made many good games such as Far Cry Ghost Recon Wildlands, Watch Dogs, Tom Clancy’s Six Siege, and much more. Ubisoft has had many bad games too such as For Honor, Watch Dogs, and more. In the trailers Watch Dogs looked amazing, so the game had a lot of hype around it but when it was released gamers that pre-ordered it were extremely disappointed. We’ve heard many that a company called Vivendi wants to buy Ubisoft, but it seems like they wouldn’t buy Ubisoft at least for six more months.
That’s good news for Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. Guillemot has been buying Ubisoft shares so Vivendi can’t take over and for at least six months he will stay as Ubisoft’s CEO. In their Q3 FY 2017 press release, Vivendi said they wouldn’t take over Ubisoft for at least six more months. Vivendi said they are making a lot of money in the video game markets. According to them, Gameloft (96% owned by Vivendi) is one of the best mobile gaming companies Gameloft created games such as Asphalt 8 Airborne, Gangstar Vegas, and much more. Vivendi will not buy Ubisoft shares or buy the whole company. Vivendi will definitely not buy more than 30% of Ubisoft shares for six more months. Vivendi also talked about Ubisoft’s executive management, and they said that they do not want “representation on its board of directors”. That doesn’t mean Vivendi doesn’t care about Ubisoft, after six months they might buy the company, or they might drop Ubisoft and focus on other companies
Vivendi is a French-based company that works in the TV, video games, music, film, and more industries. In 2017 they have a revenue of 10.82 billion EUR and its stock price is €21.66. Vivendi has shares in 2 gaming companies. Those companies are Gameloft (96%) and Ubisoft (25%). Vivendi hasn’t invested a lot of money in the video game industries, but it seems like they have plans to invest more. In the press release, Vivendi said the video games are the 2nd largest in the content industry so they will continue to develop in the video game industry.
