Minecraft sold 144 Million units on all platforms

Minecraft has been selling very well

Since Minecraft was released back in May 16, 2009 for the PC it has grown a lot. From being a game made by 1 person in his home it became a game that hundreds of people worked on and then when Minecraft was sold to Microsoft it got even bigger. Minecraft is available on basically every gaming platform out there. Minecraft is available on PC, Xbox One, PS 4, Nintendo Switch, PS 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, IOS, Android, Linux, Mac OS, Fire OS, Fire TV, and Apple TV. So it doesn’t matter what platform you are gaming on you probably have Minecraft on it so it kind of makes sense for Minecraft to sell so well.

In an interview with Popsugar Helen Chiang (the new head of Minecraft) said that Minecraft has sold 144 million copies and 74 million players play Minecraft every month.”We just recently set a new record in December for monthly active users, so now we’re at 74 million monthly active users — and that’s really a testament to people coming back to the game, whether it’s through the game updates or bringing in new players from across the world,” Chiang told me. “That’s really our goal, to keep building the community that we have.” Right now Minecraft is the second best selling game of all time. Tetris is on top of Minecraft with 170 million copies sold but Minecraft will probably surpass that in a year or two since Microsoft is released big updates for Minecraft every few months.

In a little while, Minecraft is going to get a very big and new update the Aquatic update. The Aquatic update will make the Minecraft water come to life. Right now the only animal that lives in the water is the octopus and the guardian. The new update will add Coral blocks and Kelp. Minecraft hasn’t gotten a new weapon for a long time but this update is going to fix that. The new aquatic update will add a new weapon called the Trident to Minecraft. The update will add Phantom, Dolphin, Fish, and Turtle. With the new update under water gamers will be able to see fish swimming around and turtle eggs hatching.
