New Fortnite update brings 60 FPS option to Xbox One/PS 4
Fortnite’s update improves performance on consoles
Consoles have had a very big problem for a long time. PC gamers have been able to play their games at 60 FPS but console games can’t do that. It has gotten better with the Xbox One X and PS 4 Pro but on many games console gamers still can’t enjoy their games at 60 FPS. Fortnite is a competitive online shooter so it’s important to run the game at 60 FPS but Xbox One, PS 4, PS 4 Pro, and Xbox One X gamers are locked at 30 FPS. Some games on the Xbox One X and PS 4 Pro have a 60 FPS option that decreases graphics but runs at 60 FPS but on the base consoles that option wasn’t available. Fortnite’s new update that is coming this month will add a 60 FPS option for the Xbox One X, Xbox One, PS 4, and PS 4 Pro.
In a blog post Rare wrote, “Later this month we plan to add an optional 60 FPS mode for Battle Royale on consoles (PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X). This 60 FPS mode is tuned for each console to maximize frame rate while minimizing loss of visual quality.” That’s not all the update will add and things many more things. Rare wrote that they are trying to improve game load time and they said that they are trying to make their servers run at 20 Hz at all time. Rare is also trying to fix the server problems that gamers are experiencing in the US West Coast and Brazil. New West Coast servers have been added and they are going to add Brazil servers. Rare is making matchmaking improvements that will improve balancing. Fortnite is getting more cosmetics. Gamers are going to be able to glide into battle with a new dragon shaped glider, go to battle with an astronaut suit, and use a “Llama Unicorn Pickaxe” to get all of the needed resources.
