When AMD launched their new CPU line up AMD Ryzen gamers were very excited and at the time Intel’s CPUs couldn’t compete with Ryzen’s performance and specs. The AMD Ryzen 1700 8 cores and it was priced at $229.99 while Intel’s Core I7 7700k had 4 cores and it costs $329.99. The Ryzen 1800x CPU was able to compete with Intel’s $1000 CPUs so many gamers went Ryzen instead of Intel. Recently Intel launched their new Coffe Lake CPUs and unfortunately for AMD they can compete with Ryzen so right now many gamers are buying those instead of AMD’s Ryzen CPUs.

AND Ryzen has been dominating the sales charts since it arrived last year but now according to the biggest online retailer in Germany mindfactory.de Intel has returned and gamers are choosing to buy the I7 8700 instead of Ryzen CPUs. From August until November AMD had more market share than Intel. In November AMD had 58% of the market share but in December that number fell. In December Intel pulled up and got 54% of the market and in January Intel’s market share rose to 58%. Most buyers bought the I7 8700k in December and January. On the AMD side, most buyers purchased the Ryzen 5 1600 in December and January.

AMD’s market share will probably go back up when AMD releases the new line up of CPUs the AMD Zen. Right now we don’t have a lot of info on AMD Zen but we do know that it uses new technology that AMD calls “SenseMI .” For someone that uses an AMD Ryzen CPU on their Desktop, it will be very easy to upgrade to AMD Zen becuase it will use the AM4 Platform so you don’t need to buy a new motherboard to upgrade. When Intel launches a new CPU line up gamers that want to upgrade will need to buy a new motherboard that works with that CPU. To upgrade your PCs motherboard you will need to pretty much rebuild the whole thing.
