White House YouTube channel uploads video game violence video
The video shows clips of violent moments from video games
Recently top executives of the gaming industry and president Trump met to talk about violence in video games. These meetings took place because of the tragic Parkland school shooting. Many people say that politics are blaming video games for violence because they think that violent video games cause violence but there have been many studies that prove video games don’t cause violence. This debate has been going on since violent video games were introduced to the public. Gamers argue that violent games are rated M or 17+ so kids can’t buy the game and a person in their right mind wouldn’t shoot up a school because they saw it in a video game. Gamers say that movies have violence too but they don’t get blamed for violence in real life. Apparently, in the meeting, a video made from clips of violent moments from popular video games were shown to the guests.
In the video, there were clips of the death of Joseph Bowman in Balck Ops, clips from Call of Duty Modern Warfare, clips of kills in Dead by Daylight multiplayer, scenes from the controversial “No Russian” mission in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Nazis getting killed in Wolfenstein: The New Order, Shootouts in Fallout 4, clips of Sniper Elite 4’s X-ray kill cam, and a death animation from The Evil Within. After the video was shown president Trump reportedly said, “this is violent, isn’t it?” These aren’t the worst scenes from video games but many gamers argue that some movies have even worst scenes but movies don’t get blamed for the violence.
Since Mortal Kombat people have been saying that violent video games pollute the minds of young children but gamers are saying that games have an age rating system and games like Call of Duty aren’t even meant to be played by kids.
