AMD Ryzen 2 Threadripper (Zen+/Gen. 2) Leaks, Release Date, Specs, Price

After the successful release of the 2nd-generation Ryzen processors, AMD is now getting ready for the Threadripper CPUs. The 2nd-generation Ryzen Threadripper CPUs are AMD’s own high-end processors for the most demanding tasks. AMD Threadripper 2 is Coming in August based on some news reports. Ryzen Threadripper 2950X to hit a core clock of 3.7 GHz+ and a Turbo of 4.35 GHz+.

Comparing to last gen there may not be huge changes but some expected features for Ryzen Threadripper 2000 is expected to be 10 to 30 % performance increase. Average clock speeds are then expected to increase about 300 megahertz (Mhz) compared to the previous generation.  Ryzen Threadripper 2000, which is the Threadripper 2950X, users can certainly expect it to have a base clock speed of 3.7 gigahertz (GHz)+ and a Turbo of 4.35 GHz+, though nothing is confirmed yet at this point.

For threadripper AMD is expected to offer the same clock-speed boost of other Ryzen 2000-series chips, the Ryzen 2900X, 2920X, and 2950X, will effectively replace their counterparts from the first generation. Those chips launched with boosted clock speeds and more aggressive price tags than their predecessors.

Zen+ also means support for significantly faster DDR4 RAM speeds thanks to a drastic improvement to the memory controller. 2nd generation Ryzen is able to reliably support DDR4 RAM rated at speeds nearly 1GHz higher than its predecessor and the same can be expected with 2nd gen Threadripper and the upcoming X399 motherboard refresh.
