Fallout 76 is the first multiplayer-focused Fallout game. Recently games have been going toward the online direction rather than the offline direction. Microsoft has been trying to start cross-platform online gaming between the platforms. Nintendo quickly jumped on board with the Nintendo Switch but Sony has been doing to exact opposite. Sony has been blocking cross-platform gaming since it started. Fans got very mad over Sony’s decision of blocking cross-play so they have been trying to make gamers happy. Recently Sony said that they are confident that they can find a solution to the cross-platform issue that will make players happy and work with Sony’s business plan. Bethesda’s Todd Howard has said that Sony is the reason why PS 4 gamers aren’t going to able to play Fallout 76 online with their friends on other platforms.

In an interview with GameStar, Todd Howard said that Bethesda wants to have cross-play between all platforms but that isn’t possible right now thanks to Sony. Howard said, “Sony is not as helpful as everyone would like it to be.” Since Fallout 76 is going to be one of the biggest multiplayer titles of 2018 cross-play would be a very important feature as friends are an essential part of Fallout 76.

Fallout 76 is going to be an online survival shooter. Fortunately, it is going to be possible to play it alone but it is much easier to play online with friends. In Fallout 76 servers will be filled with dozens of players and the map is very big so you wouldn’t meet a player at all time. Fallout 76 will be like a normal Fallout game. It features quests and missions the only difference is that there are other players on the map.
