In the recent months, we have been seeing many articles that claim to have “leaked” GTX 1180’s specs. The rumors aren’t mere rumors though they have a lot of evidence supporting them and most of them come from credible sources. According to these rumors, the GTX 1180 is going to feature 3584 Cuda Cores, 16GB of VRAM, 1600MHz core clock, 1800MHz boost clock, 13 TFLOPS, 16 Gbps Memory Speed, and a TDP of 170 to 200 watts. These specs are very similair to Nvidia’s top card the Titan XP. The Nvidia Titan XP also has 3840 Cuda Cores, 12 GB of VRAM, 1582 boost clock, and 11.4 Gbps memory speed. Although Titan XP is weaker than the GTX 1180 this is the best way to guess GTX 1180’s performance. Remember these are all rumors so take them with a grain of salt.
The YouTuber DudeRandom84 has benchmarked the Nvidia Titan XP with a Kaby Lake 7700K and he has got some interesting results. In Watch Dogs 2 with the game running at 4k and everything set to the highest setting the game was running at a very smooth 55-60 FPS for most of the time but during some of the intense scenes it did dip down to 45 FPS. If the rumors are true then the GTX 1180 will be able to easily handle Watch Dogs 2 at 4k ultra settings 60 FPS. On the Witcher 3 running at 4K ultra settings, the Titan XP got a staggering 50+ FPS which is a really good result considering that the Witcher 3 is on the harder side to run. In GTA V while running at ultra settings, 4K the Titan XP pretty much always ran around 60+ FPS but reaching 100 FPS in the less intense scenes in the prologue. In grassy areas, the game fell to a low 45 FPS.
The GTX 1180 is going to be a revolution for the Pc gaming market. PC gamers will finally be able to play their favorite game at 4k ultra settings 60 FPS on a GPU that costs less than $1000. The GTX 1170 should be able to easily play all games at 1440p 60 FPS ultra and 4K at medium to high 60 FPS.
