Next-Gen AMD GPUs Likely Coming Out this Summer and Expected Specs

The next-gen AMD GPUs are likely going to be released this Summer

We have seen many rumors from different sources “leaking” GTX 1180’s release date and specs but we haven’t seen many rumors about AMD’s next-gen graphics cards. AMD has been very tightlipped about their next-gen GPUs but by looking at AMD’s GPU release date it is possible to guess what time AMD is going to release their next-gen GPU.

If you look at the past release dates of AMD GPUs you will be able to easily guess the time that AMD is going to release their next-gen GPU. The RX 580 was released in April 2017, Radeon RX Vega 64 was released in August 2017, RX 480 came out in June 2016, and the RX 380 came out in June 2015. As you can see all of these months are in the Summer season so we get a pretty good guess about when AMD is going to release their next-gen GPUs. To get a hand up on Nvidia they will likely release it a few weeks before Nvidia releases their GTX 1100 GPUs. The GTX 1180 is probably going to be announced Gamescom as indicated by recent rumors. In a recent video, a Lenovo product manager lets slip that laptops coming this Fall are going to feature GTX 11 GPUs.

Now let’s talk specs and price. The specs aren’t as easy to guess. AMD doesn’t have a GPU for the high-end consumer market right now. If Nvidia does release the GTX 1180 and prices it at $700 as indicated by rumors AMD will likely release a GPU to compete with Nvidia’s GTX 1100 GPU series. It will probably be priced around the same range and it will probably have the same specs so AMD can actually compete.

If the rumors are true the GTX 1180 is going to be revolutionary for the gaming market. Right now the expected specs are 3584 Cuda Cores, 16GB of VRAM, 1600MHz core clock, 1800MHz boost clock, 13 TFLOPS, 16 Gbps Memory Speed, and a TDP of 170 to 200 watts. It is expected to cost somewhere around $700.
