Nvidia RTX 2080 VS AMD Radeon VII|Official Benchmarks
Can the Radeon VII Top the RTX 2080?

AMD Radeon GPU
For a long time, Nvidia has been in control of the gaming GPU market. Before AMD release a new GPU series rumors start pouring out into the internet saying that it is going to be legendary and blow the competition out of the water but, those rumors are never true. The Vega 56 and 64 were supposed to blow Nvidia out of the competition but, it didn’t. It seems like the same has happened with AMD’s 7nm GPUs. Rumors suggested the Radeon VII is going to destroy Nvidia RTX but, it doesn’t seem like that’s happening.
AMD Radeon VII VS Nvidia RTX 2080 Specs
Let’s start off with the specs. The Radeon VII is going to feature 3840 Unified cores, a boost clock of 1800 MHz, a 1tb/s bandwidth, and 16GB of VRAM. The Nvidia RTX 2080 features 2944 Unified cores, 1710 MHz boost clock, 8 GB of VRAM, and a bandwidth of 448 GB/s. Both cards are going to cost you $699.
Radeon VII Official Benchmarks
AMD has supposedly revealed official benchmarks for their upcoming GPU, the Radeon VII. Apparently, all of these benchmarks were done in 4k ultra presets.

The RTX 2080 and AMD VII are Really Similair
According to the benchmarks, the Radeon VII was able to run Battlefield 1 at 80.5 FPS while running at 4k ultra settings. For comparison, the Nvidia RTX 2080 is able to run Battlefield V at 80 FPS while running on ultra settings at 4k. The Radeon VII ran Far Cry 5 at 62 FPS while the RTX 2080 was able to run the game at 57 FPS. In some cases, the RTX 2080 does a bit better than the Radeon VII. For example, in Rise of the Tombraider, the RTX 2080 ran the game at 62 FPS while the Radeon VII ran the game at 58.3 FpS.
Which is the superior GPU?
These GPUs are really similair in terms of performance. In some games, Nvidia has the advantage while in other games, AMD does better. Honestly, it just comes down to power consumption and ray tracing. It seems like the RTX 2080 is the superior GPU as it features ray tracing and, it is available right now. Also, it may be hard to find the Radeon VII for $700 when it is released while the RTX 2080 was released months ago.
