Next-Gen AMD Ryzen 2, Big Advantage Over Intel in Portable Market (Leaked Specs List)

AMD Zen 2 Specs List Has Supposedly Been Leaked

AMD’s CEO Lisa Su recently announced the world’s first 7nm CPU series, AMD Zen 2. AMD Ryzen blew the competition out of the water when it came out a few years back and according to the latest leaks and rumors, AMD is going to do the same with next-gen Ryzen CPUs.

Official Zen 2 Benchmarks

At their event at CES 2019, AMD gave us official benchmark scores for Cinebench R15 using the 8 core and 16 threads variant of Zen 2. The 8c/16t variant of Zen 2 supposedly scored 2,057 on Cinebench R15. Unfortunatly, AMD didn’t give us the price point for the 8c/16t variant of Ryzen but, we know that it costs less than the Intel Core I9-9900k. AMD compared the Zen 2 CPU to Intel Core I9-9900k which scored 2,040 on Cinebench R15. Of course,  Zen 2’s core clock hasn’t finalized yet so, we should get higher scores when it is released. According to AMD, the AMD CPU and Intel Core I9-9900k used identical systems but, the AMD system only used 130w-132w of power while the Intel Core I9-9900k used 180w of power.

AMD Zen 2 Specs List

Unfortunately, there isn’t much evidence supporting the leaked specs list but, it does seem pretty realistic.

If this rumor is true, the 8c/16t variant of Zen 2 will cost you up to $229. Considering that the Core I9-9900k has a boost clock of 5GHz, AMD probably used the Ryzen 5 3600X. The Ryzen 5 3600 is no match for the Core I9-9900k as it has a boost clock of 4.4GHz. Considering that the 8c/16t variant of the Zen 2 CPU only used 130w of power, it makes sense for it to cost $229 as budget CPUs usually don’t use a lot of power so, they don’t produce a lot of heat.

AMD Has Big Advantage Over Intel in Portable Market

The biggest problem for laptop manufactures is heat. If you are into PCs, you probably know about Apple’s issue with the Macbook and heat. The thing was that the Intel CPU produced too much heat so, the laptop kept having issues. Considering that an 8c/16t Zen 2 CPU that is able to beat out the Core I9-9900k only uses 130w of power, laptop manufactures can easily fit a high-end CPU in a slim laptop without having issues with heat.
