Details of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL Leaks
The first concrete set of information on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL has surfaced. What to expect from the Google flagships when they’re launched later in the year. What’s more, there could also be a third hitherto unknown device in the series.
A report by 9to5Google showed that the new Google devices are referred to as “Coral” and “Needlefish”. In the latest Google app code, there’s also reference to “Coral” and “Flame”. “Coral” makes sense and is all but confirmed to be the Pixel 4. So far, Google has used aquatic species as code names for its devices, and this follows that theme.
“Flame” is expected to be the Pixel 4 XL, as it likely refers to the Flame angelfish. “Needlefish” is more of an unknown entity, however. It’s said to have its own SELinux policy, though, which is usually an indication that it’s an Android device. A few months ago, a Pixel phone with the code name “Coral” surfaced on Geekbench, running on Android Q with 6 GB of RAM. This report all but confirms that the aforementioned device was the Pixel 4. A Snapdragon 855 is expected, and 6 GB of RAM is a welcome upgrade from the 4 GB on previous Pixel phones.
