Latest Leaks: AMD Navi May Not be Able to Compete With Nvidia’s Competing GPUs
Navi May Not be As Powerful as we Thought

If you follow the news, you have probably read about AMD’s next-gen 7nm Navi GPU which was rumored to deliver RTX 2070 performance for only $250. AMD was also hyping up Navi and Zen 2 as they called their next-gen 7nm hardware the “Strongest Product Portfolio in AMD History.” The latest rumors go against AMD’s promise of the “Strongest Product Portfolio in AMD History” as they claim that a $500 Navi GPU is going to be able to outperform the $500 Nvidia RTX 2070.
RX 3070 & RX 3080 Leaked Price/Specs
The most powerful Navi GPU, the RX 3080 is supposedly going to be powered by the Navi XT chip. It is said that the RX 3080 is going to be able to deliver slightly better performance than the Nvidia RTX 2070 and, it is going to launch with an MSRP of $499. Past rumors claimed that the RX 3080 is going to be able to perform like the RTX 2070 but, it was rumored that the RX 3080 will cost you about $300.
The lower tier AMD RX 3070 is supposedly going to feature the Navi Pro chip. The RX 3070 is said to outperform the Nvidia RTX 2060 and, it is said that you’ll be able to pick it up around summer time for $400.
This rumor is more credible than past rumors as a Sapphire spokesperson reportedly gave information to the Chinese Media about AMD’s next-gen 7nm Navi GPUs. Although this rumor is more credible, it doesn’t make a lot of sense as AMD usualy delivers on their promises and in this case if Navi does perform like this and cost this much, it wouldn’t exactly be the “Strongest Product Portfolio in AMD History.”
Nvidia RTX Refreshes
According to a new rumor, Nvidia is working on hardware refreshes for their RTX series GPUs. The RTX refreshes are supposedly going to feature Higher Clocks and faster GDDR6 Memory. These GPUs are supposedly coming out to compete with AMD’s Navi GPUs. Nvidia has done this before hence it’s not surprising for Nvidia to do this.
Will Navi Flop?
If the rumors about Nvidia RTX refreshes are true, AMD may have a hard time competing with Nvidia. The most powerful Navi GPU is going to cost $500 and slightly outperform the RTX 2070 but, with hardware refreshes Navi will have a hard time competing unless AMD brings the prices down.
