It’s the fastest selling console ever in the US and has made Nintendo an absolute shedload of money. We may hear more about the new Nintendo Switch at E3 2019, but Nintendo has stated it will only be focusing on software during this year’s special E3 Nintendo Direct.  Its is coming in a few days.

New Nintendo Switch news and leaks

Now, despite the fact that Nintendo hasn’t confirmed it’s planning to release a Nintendo Switch 2, there have been reports and leaks which suggest plans are, at the very least, being made.

Rumor Suggests Nintendo Switch 2.0 is Coming  We knew that in 2018, Nintendo was going to focus more on manufacturing more Nintendo Switch consoles to catch up to the demand. Sometime after, it was rumored that Nintendo is going to release a hardware refresh of the Switch.

In 2018 it was reported that Nintendo will be looking into more network related features and peripherals for the Switch. Nintendo didn’t release a hardware refresh of the Switch in 2018 because they focused more on production issues. A person that was familiar with “Nintendo’s development plan” said that a hardware refresh of the Switch will fit perfectly into Nintendo’s plan. Nintendo said that they want to extend the Switch’s life cycle from the traditional 5-6 years.

The Japanese gaming giant has a fruitful record for iterating its handheld consoles: there have been multiple models of the 3DS family available in different sizes, shapes, and with varying 3D capability, but all able to play the same game cartridges as each other. Even Sony and Microsoft have come round to iterative releases, offering mid-cycle upgrades such as the Xbox One S, Xbox One X, or PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro.

The second new version of the Nintendo Switch, going by the rumor, is a little harder to pin down, but would be a premium version of the console with “enhanced features targeted at avid videogamers.” That’s not to suggest it would be aiming for 4K or HDR visuals
