7nm AMD Zen 2 CPUs Outsell Intel CPUs in Major Asian Markets | What About the Other Parts of the World?
Can AMD Zen 2 Compete?

When AMD launched their Ryzen series proccessors they quickly caught the attention of many gamers and artists around the world because of the high core and thread counts for low prices. Unfortunately for AMD, Intel quickly released their Coffe Lake CPUs which obligated the competing Ryzen CPUs in gaming benchmarks. Well, AMD has bounced back and they’re taking a significant part of the CPU market with Zen 2 especially in Asian countries.
AMD Captures Asian Market
According to a research firm run by one of the biggest retailers in South Korea Danwa, AMD Zen 2 CPUs have been outselling Intel’s CPUs for a few days now. Starting from Monday (July 8th), AMD sells jumped to 48.72% from a measly 28.24% just a day earlier. AMD has been selling more CPUs than they have in 5 years! The AMD sells quickly surpassed Intel’s CPU sales after only two days selling 53.36% versus Intel’s 46.64%

This isn’t all of the information that we have. The other news comes from BNC Ranking who rounded up statistics from four different major retailers in Japan and they show that AMD was able to capture 50.5% of the market share versus Intel’s %49.5. This is the first time in a very long since AMD was actually able to surpass Intel’s market share. Things don’t look good for Intel as they controlled 72.1% of the market back in October 2018. This may be the beginning of a new era in which AMD has the majority of the market while Intel is trying hard to compete.

What About the Other Parts of the World?
Right now, we don’t have any statistical evidence about AMD’s performance in Europ and North America but, we can only assume that AMD’s doing pretty well. Although AMD Zen 2 is a behind Intel in terms of gaming performance, Zen 2 makes up for it thanks to far superior multi-core performance as well as lower prices.

It’s early of course, but he overwhelmingly positive market reaction to Zen 2/Ryzen 3000s is great to see, on many different levels. Next up: Rome, which should absolutely crush Intel’s server chips where they compete. And w/ these 7nm chips, the OEMs will be offering a lot more choices of computers, than they did w/ the previous generation, as marketplace acceptance of AMD’s products and, significantly, roadmap, picks up steam.
