Don’t Build a Gaming PC Right Now!

If you have been in the market for a new gaming PC, you probably have been having a hard time finding any parts. Right now al sectors in the tech industry are suffering because a bunch of different events happened at the same time, like bitcoin mining getting more popular, COVID causing manufacturing to get slower, and over all a material shortage that is preventing companies from making more chips for their hardware. All of this has made it so that you can’t buy a gaming GPU right now without having to spend double the MSRP or relying on luck to beat the bots and get yourself a new GPU. Well, according to the latest news PC gamers are in luck because the GPU shortage may end soon.
The Mining Crackdown
Recently in many countries throughout the globe the governments have been cracking down on cryptocurrency miners. Many bitcoin miners go to countries in Asia because they generally have lower energy costs; giving them the most profits but many countries in Asia have been cracking down on miners. One of these countries is China. Right now, in China after the crack down NVIDIA RTX 3000 series GPUs that cost about $400 are going for $200! This is really good news for gamers because it means that in the next couple of months the GPU shortage may get much better.

The Cryptocurrency Market
The crypto mining market was using a lot of GPUs to mine bitcoin. Miners would buy hundreds or even thousands of GPUs and use them all for mining which would mean that essentially one person would use the equivalent of a thousand people. Now that the GPU market has gone down, with BTC down to about $34,000 at the time of writing this article and other coins down even lower, a lot of miners have stopped mining bitcoin and there have not been as many people getting into it which means that over all more GPUs have been available for normal users.
GPU Prices Coming Down
Both Nvidia and AMD GPUs have been going up for months. Since GPU mining became insanely popular miners started buying crazy amounts of Graphics Cards which made it so that Nvidia and AMD weren’t able to keep up with all the demand.
