SC17, AMD Radeon Instinct Is Shining Beside EPYC CPUs In High-Performance PlatformsRadeon instinct mi25 credit AMD

SC17 has been very competitive and exiting, focusing on AMD EPYC, Radeon Instinct Mi25, Nvidia Volta Tesla V100 and XION CPUs from Intel. AI, Machine Intelligence & Deep Learning Neural Network Training is basically the main goals of the AMD Instinct projects. Training techniques used today on neural networks in machine intelligence and deep learning. NVIDIA has brought the Volta Arc made The Tesla V100 to this market and is all over sc17 with volta. The Key to both Nvidia and AMD Datacenter and AI made hardware is handling huge sets of data and cloud storage. MI25 GPUs, each delivering up to 12.3 TFLOPS of single precision performance in AMD new highly scalable platform. For large to hyperscale deployments, AMAX a Data Center, Cloud, HPC, OEM Manufacturing has developed the Rack P47, a rackscale appliance featuring 20x P47 platforms to provide up to a PetaFLOPS of single precision compute performance and more than 10 terabytes of DDR4 memory per rack. The Rack P47 also features HPC-optimized DC DCiM software to remotely monitor, manage and orchestrate GPU-based deployments where real-time temperature, power and system health are particularly crucial to help ensure uninterrupted operation, as well as AMD’s ROCm software platform for the ultimate ease of implementation for deep learning, inference and training workloads. Many more companies are becoming interested in AMD Datacenter Platforms as we mentioedin earlier news about the EPYC CPUS in SC17.

Applications in data centers have become very complex and require the handling of massive amounts of data when training those networks to recognize patterns within that data. This area is also becoming an interest for Nvidia recently  and they have been working with the new 12nm Volta platform for huge data loads and AI tech needs. This kind of data processing requires lots of floating point computation spread across many cores like EPYC has, and traditional CPUs can’t handle this type of computation as efficient and as fast as the current multi stream GPUs handle it. What can take CPUs weeks to compute, can be handled in days with the use of GPUs. The Radeon Instinct MI25, is now combined with AMD’s new Epyc server processors and AMD ROCm open software platform, deliver performance needed for machine intelligence and deep learning applications.

Radeon Instinct performance running with 4,096 stream processors; along with its High Bandwidth Cache (HBC) and controller and 16GB of high-bandwidth HBM2 memory, The MI25 accelerator, based on AMD’s Next-Gen “Vega” architecture with the what AMD Calls it “the world’s most advanced memory architecture”, is optimized for handling large sets of data.
